Whidbey West Beach and Price Sculpture Forest

Hiking in the mountains or walking the PNW beaches, here at MBC we can have it all. Twelve of us went out today to enjoy a 6 miles walk along the West Beach near Coupeville. To the southwest we could see the snow covered Olympic Mountains just above the clouds, which still were hanging around from yesterday’s rain. Towards the northwest we saw the San Juan Islands and Vancouver Island, here the clouds yielded to sunshine. The group spread out along the beach, building little groups to follow interesting conversations amongst them. We had lunch at the Hastie Lake County Park, taking in the sunshine that was offered to us, before we walked back to the Fort Ebey State Park, where we parked our cars. Next we visited the Price Sculpture Forest also near Coupeville. In the end we all felt happy as a clam and decided to round out the day with Clam Chowder and beer in Coupeville. All in all a nice day, thanks to all who participated and made it a successful trip. Photos posted to MBC Flickr Album Page.
