Wednesdays the flies take their day off, see Owen’s report from last Wednesday. It was no different today, they did not bother us during the hike or our breaks. Only exception was when some of us jumped into the Iceberg Lake for a swim to cool off. When we came out of the lake to put our clothes back on they were waiting for us. It probably was too tempting for them. Five MBC hikers were on the Chain Lakes Loop Trail on a beautiful sunny day. The smoke and the haze was not bad at all and did not impact our enjoyment. We hiked counterclockwise and the trail was not crowded. The blueberries were not ripe yet but we hit a moderate pace anyway to take in the amazing views of Shuksan and Baker. Thanks to the hikers who joined me today on that classic hike.
