Apr 29 – Sunday: Mt. Erie and Sugar Loaf Mountain HIke – Trip Leader: Mike Davis
Hike to Mt Erie via Sugarloaf and Whistle Lake: Join us for a day along Puget Sound hiking the famed Mt Erie. Total distance will be approx 8 miles with an 1100 ft gain. Spectacular views at the top, weather-permitting. Let’s meet at REI at 8:30, Chuckanut Park and Ride @ 9am, or the trailhead at Whistle Lake at 9:30am. No parking pass requirements in Anacortes. Bring a lunch and water. Questions ask Michael at email@example.com.
11 MBC adults and 1 dog appeared in Anacortes yesterday morning to observe countless variances in cloud colors (light grey, medium grey, dull grey, beige-grey, yearning grey, etc) in addition to hiking around Whistle Lake, and to the tops of both Mt Erie and Sugarloaf. The pace and conversation was brisk and stimulating. Very little drizzle fell, until we sat down to have lunch atop Erie. Mother nature and her timing.
Sugarloaf views beat Erie’s, the grey haze lightened and Coupeville appeared momentarily.
8 miles total, 1300 feet of gain, unlimited variances of the color grey. Overall a great way to spend a Sunday! A few photos can be seen here.
