(Short Notice Hike)
Ten seasoned hikers met at the Thunder Knob Trailhead following a slow but beautiful drive up highway 20 on Friday morning. The day was warm and sunny as we passed several occupied campsites at the beginning of the trail. We crossed several bridges before heading up the trail. The view at the top was picture perfect as we looked over Diablo Lake and Thunder Arm while we enjoyed a lunch and rest before heading back down the mountain.
On the way back, five hikers added the trails around the Powerhouse in Newhalem. The Skagit River was beautiful and powerful with an impressive waterfall.
