Meet at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 503 Everson Rd, Everson, WA 98247, USA (map)
A fine dike ride along the Nooksack and around farmland, looping back through Everson on the Bay To Baker Trail, 3 miles. Then we’ll hop over to the Everson Auction Barn for an old fashioned livestock auction. On Mondays, the auction is all about miscellaneous livestock that hobby farmers and 4H projects would like: pigs, sheep, goats, geese, ducks, and maybe an ostrich or llama. The stage is small with only a few bleachers on two walls, up close and personal. The café has long standing fame for it’s burgers and home made pie, strictly standing room only during lunch time. Everson Auction Barn was originally a 2 room schoolhouse from the turn of the century, and much of it remains. The auction starts at 12:30 and if we time it right, we could find café seating and eat before it begins. Meet 9:30 a.m. at Everson’s Mormon church parking lot – north side please. This is only a few hundred feet before Everson’s bridge and is next to the B2B trail. You’ll see the standard white steeple and red brick building as you approach the bridge coming north from the Pole Road.
