Twenty four hikers met to enjoy a great day exploring a relatively unknown trail. About 3.5 miles and 800 feet of elevation gain were tackled as we made our way from the Austin Pass picnic area down through a small valley underneath tall cliffs and basalt formations. Plenty of Heather Meadows and lots of views of Mt. Shuksan partially obscured in clouds. Lunch was enjoyed at the top of Chair 1 before descending to the Lake Ann trailhead. From there we crossed the road and followed the Wild Goose trail downhill to the parking lot. At least one vehicle proceeded onward to Artist Point with hopes of some Mount Baker views (nope) and then a side trip to check out Nooksack Falls (nice).
